Guided Town Walks of Historic Cirencester

Our schedule of walks for 2026 will start again in April (please see below).

If you would like to book a private walk during the winter period, you can still do this (please see below).

Blackjack Street Cirencester

Join us for a guided town walk of historic Cirencester led by one of our volunteer guides.

Hear about Cirencester’s 2,000 year history from the Romans to the present day and many of the people involved.

Guided town walks are suitable for adults, children (only when accompanied by an adult) and dogs, each walk covers a distance of about one and a half miles and usually takes between 75-90 minutes to complete.

Our public guided town walks run from April to October.

Meet your guide outside the south porch of the parish church in the Market Place. Just look for the information board (see picture).

Just turn up and walk – no booking required.

Private Guided Town Walks

If you and your friends and family are visiting Cirencester on any other day during the summer or at any other time throughout the year, private guided town walks are still available. You can pre-book a guided town walk by contacting:

email: townwalks@cirencestercivicsociety.org.uk

or

telephone/text: 07771-998182

for a day and time that best suits you. These walks normally start in front of the south porch of the parish church in the Market Place but, if necessary, an alternative meeting place can be arranged.

For all walks, we would like to suggest a donation of £5 per person with all donations going toward Cirencester Civic Society community projects.

A Civic Society self-guiding booklet is also available to purchase from the Cirencester Town Council’s Local Information Centre situated in The Bingham Library in Dyer Street (Monday – Saturday) or from the Corinium Museum (open daily) situated in Park Street.
